A trial is starting today which may be a watershed event for civil rights. Either the litigants will win -- in which case, equal rights for gays and lesbians will be affirmed -- or they will lose. Which will set back civil rights for gays and lesbians much the same as the Dred Scott decision in the 19th Century.
Most Americans won’t even be aware of these court proceedings... but I must admit, I’m more than a little interested in the outcome, and I hope YOU are, too.
